DNC Fines

Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager announced today that her office has obtained judgments in Racine County against First American Funding, LLC, of Columbus, Wisconsin, for violations of Wisconsin’s no-call laws.  The company allegedly illegally called consumers registered on Wisconsin’s No Call list, marketing mortgage lending services.  The company was ordered to pay $2,384 for 16 violations.

“The judgment enjoins the company from violating Wisconsin no-call laws and imposes a forfeiture and penalty for past violations,” Lautenschlager said.  “The Wisconsin Department of Justice vigorously enforces the No Call law and regularly seeks and wins judgments against violators.”

According to Lautenschlager, the company also apologized for any telephone solicitations made to Wisconsin customers on the no-call list and pledged to make every effort to fully comply with the no-call laws in the future.

The judgment was obtained by the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, which conducted the initial investigation.  Assistant Attorneys General Meredith Early and Nelle Rohlich represented the State.
